Barnes & Noble Ends Premium Membership Perk

Barnes & Noble ends free book perk for premium members. Text over blurred books background, arrow pointing to blog info, serious tone.
B&N has ended their premium membership perk of a free monthly book.

Sad update incoming!

Sadly, Barnes & Noble has decided to end the free monthly ebook perk that they offered to premium members :( If you scroll back through the blog or the instagram feed, you'll see that I used to share the list of options B&N had for premium members to choose from that month.

Some months were better than others, but overall I really enjoyed this perk and I'm sad to see it go!

B&N has confirmed that as of this month (October, 2025) free monthly ebooks are no longer available for premium members.

You can see all of the "perks" (I use that term loosely) here. I've had a membership for years, but going through the list for this blog post makes me realize the value simply isn't there for me anymore. At this point I have several of the bags and while it seems they add a new color every year, there's hasn't been a new design.

The 10% off is great, but one needs to spend $400 a year to break even and I'm not entirely sure that I would be making sound financial decisions to aim for breaking even!

So I think the time has finally come for me to break up with Barnes & Noble, sadly.

If you're looking to move away from B&N too, I will say that BAM's membership is a much better decision financially! No free bag every year, but they do Thank You Thursdays with a selection of books on discount. It's how I snagged Mate by Ali Hazelwood for only $12! (In comparison, it's currently $16 at Amazon.)

The books are frequently (but not always) popular BookTok books, so if you that's your jam it might be a good decision to give it a try.

*PS this post is not sponsored by BAM. My bank account only wishes I had a sponsor!
