Thank you to Berkley for the ARC of Zomromcom by Olivia Dade to review!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Edie is our sunshine-y FMC who unwittingly lives next door to a grumpy vampire, in disguise as a 20-something frat-boy named Chad.
Yes, Chad. shudders
When zombies breach the nearby containment, where they've been held for the last 20 years, Edie tries to save her very dumb, but very hot neighbor with a burrito.
Yes, a burrito.
Turns out he's not so young or dumb, but still very hot, and his name is Gaston.
Yes, Gaston.
He goes by Max, but trust that our girl does not let his real name go by without some giggles and singing.
If you're looking for a cute, funny, and yes, slightly campy read–look no further! Zomromcom doesn't take itself too seriously, which I appreciate. In Zomromcom, Dade exhibits how one can still have fun and find joy in life even as the world turns to a hellscape around them. Something I desperately needed to read right about now and you might too.
I loved the setup for hopefully more books set in this same world including, perhaps, a sapphic romance?? Or maybe a second Edie / Max book or at least room for a good cameo? Dade left so many doors open for her to explore and I'm excited to see what comes next!
If you like zombie books / shows, but want something a lighter and less stressful than Resident Evil or The Walking Dead and has a guaranteed HEA, look no further!
